Ukrainian women's theatrical and musical group performing in the genres of "freak cabaret" and theatrical performance
"Dakh Daughters" is associated with the Kyiv theater "Roof"(Dakh - ukrainian), the director of the theater - Vladyslav Troitsky - participates in the production of performances "Dakh Daughters".In April 2013, the first big concert of Dakh Daughters took place at the Kyiv Small Opera.The band gained popularity on YouTube in the summer of 2013 thanks to the video "Rozy / Donbass", which combines Shakespeare's 35th sonnet, Ukrainian folk songs, deliberately theatrical pathos. Another popular video of the band was the performance of the song "Hannusya" on Independence Square during the protests in December 2013.Dakh Daughters uses texts by Yosyp Brodsky, Taras Shevchenko, Lesya Ukrainka, Charles Bukovsky, Mykhailo Semenko, Yuriy Andrukhovych, and Oleksandr Vvedensky in their speeches; texts in different dialects of Ukrainian, English, French, Russian, German. Participants use a variety of musical instruments (a total of 15 instruments): double bass, cello, piano, maracas, guitar, violin, drums, xylophone, accordion, harmonica and tambourines, and "musicians are not tied to their instruments and easily change them." Music commentators find similarities between "Dakh Daughters" and Amanda Palmer, Rammstein, Laibach, System of a Down and Dresden Dolls."Dakh Daughters" performed in various cities of Ukraine, as well as in France, Poland and Russia.In November 2016, the band's debut studio album "IF" was presented, which included 9 songs.In April 2019, the second album was released - "Air", which included 7 tracks of original texts and poems by Ukrainian poets: Pavel Tychyna, Mike Johansen, Mykola Kholodny, as well as a rethinking of Lewis Carroll's novel "Alice in Wonderland" [1][1] From the free encyclopedia Wikipedia
